TYLER STOUT
In this evaluation I hope to find out the development processes of Tyler Stout’s illustrated movie posters and to investigate his style and influences and if they have become clear and visually shown in his designs. From merely observing his movie posters it is clear that Tyler is a highly skilled computer illustrator who uses computer software programs to their fullest potential and I would like to investigate and convey how he manages to design and create these highly detailed movie style posters which in my opinion are very interesting and artistic.
Tyler stout is a movie poster illustrator who uses pre existing movies with pre existing posters and designs his own interpretation in his own style. Tyler doesn't use photographs like typical movie posters and instead creates the aspects of the posters e.g. people, creatures and other objects in detailed coloured shapes. This style is gritty and sharp and is well suited for action related films like 'THE THING' 'KILL BILL' and 'STAR WARS' just to name a few. The work is highly detailed and very intricate and much more interesting and artistic than a traditional photograph based movie poster. Despite photographs being clearer and more easily recognisable as to what the characters and aspects are portraying. This teamed with the gritty arts style and the use of an unsaturated and sometimes bleak colour and toning scheme of the palette fully emphasises and illustrates that the movie’s genre is an action film that deserves a gritty and somewhat sharp design.
The bleak colouring is an artistic style which he Carries on throughout all of his posters design and Each one encapsulates the key aspects of the movie And montages them in a cleverly calculated Way so that the key characters are bigger and the Secondary characters smaller as typical with most Montages.

Tyler was born and raised in Washington state and Describes his work as being illustrations which is True but his illustrations are still highly artistic and Highly detailed. His designs start of as drawing but are not cartoonish or simple they are extremely detailed and highly realistic and start of as a good base for his final illustrated movie poster. His style he says is inspired from comic books that he read as a child and that is where he draws his inspiration from when designing. Some of his inspiration comes from people such as Mobius, Bernie Wrightson, Frank Miller, Dave Gibbons, Frank Miller, Mike Mignola.

He starts his work by often simply sketching in a sketch pad and later interoperating that work on to a computer and spending a huge amount of time extensively editing and creating his work. This is useful because Tyler had said in interviews that since that a lot of the buyers of the work are overseas or are far away that he most often e-mails his clients his designed works.
